I was walking through the forest one day, chatting it up with the Divine about my fear of being seen.
I’d been lovingly shifting the emotional layers of this program for some time now; the edges had softened, but it still felt a little sticky.
Then this messages flooded in:
Rochelle, do you see all the stars in the sky?
There are trillions (septillions, actually) of stars.
Can you see how they all shine, how they all take up space?
Notice how they are not competing with one another, how they are not apologizing for how much they shine?
Do you see how there is room for every star in the night sky to shine?
Then the next part of the message came:
Rochelle, you are a star. You have five points: your head, your arms, and your legs. Shine like a star. If there is room for each star in the sky to shine, there is plenty of room for each person to shine like a star.
My entire being lit up with the God goosebumps (this is always my body’s reaction to the deepest truths), I am sure you have felt this many times too!
In fact, I’d guess that you have also felt this…
The quiet hesitation to fully show who you are.
The instinct to soften your voice, dim your brilliance, or hold back parts of yourself so others feel more comfortable.
What’s interesting is that I keep getting the visual that this is kind of like being wrapped up in plastic wrap. Can I just say, no thanks!
We are stunned or maybe we are star-struck (well, at least, I know that I am) by the beauty of the night skies. When we look up we feel in awe and wonder. We don’t ask the stars to dim themselves so another can shine.
And, when we gaze at the night sky, it is filled with radiant stars, dazzling galaxies, illuminated planets and plenty of space.
So, to all my Substack community and beyond…
Shine like a star!
Take up space.
There is plenty of space for everyone and for you, to shine brightly like the stars in the night sky.
—Where is it in your own life that you are blocking your ability to shine your brilliance?
We dim our light for all kinds of reasons
I see this all the time as I am guiding people through their soul growth cycles.
I see how deeply rooted beliefs can be because we often inherit them through our family systems and then build on them.
These are the common beliefs that I see
Playing small keeps me safe
The truth is, what keeps you safe is your light, so shine brighter
Dimming my light means that I am being humble
The truth is that humility and confidence can coexist
I hold back my light so that others can shine
The truth is that there is plenty of space for you and for them to shine your/their brightest.
Dimming my light is how I fit in
The truth is, you didn’t come to “fit in”. You came to be you, and sometimes that means that you are going to stand out.
Dimming my light helps others accept me
The truth is, the only acceptance that you need is self-acceptance. Shining your light is a piece of your self-acceptance journey.
